  • Tip #1 – Create a design for eye-level and easy reading.

Naturally, we read from top to bottom. If you want something to grab your viewer’s attention, keep it at eye level. You should also choose a font that is clear and of a good size, to ensure that your viewer can read it easily. Make sure that you use professional sounding, yet simple descriptions and information. If you try to get too technical in order to impress, chances are that you will lose your customer along the way. Keep it simple and easy to read – it’s that simple!

Tip #2 – For a lasting effect, tie your company colours in with your banner colours.

Of course, you want your banner to be bold and noticeable, but don’t try to overdo it. Keep your banners classy and ensure that you use your company colours in the design. This will help your customers or target audience to associate your banner with your company.

Tip #3 – Be resolute about resolution!

Quality is always of the utmost important. Your banner advert could be funny, witty and effective, but if it’s printed in a poor quality, your customers will not be impressed. Ensure that your artwork is provided in the highest possible resolution to ensure that it prints clearly and without flaws.

Tip #4 – Less is more – always!

Yes, sometimes busy patterns can look great, but not on banner adverts. Keep your advertising design and the information that you include on it, concise. This is the best way in which to ensure that the message is not lost in all the “frills”. Your message will be far more effective if your consumers know exactly what you are saying, without getting distracted.

Tip #5 – Don’t use images that you aren’t authorised to.

It can be tempting to print that picture that you love from the internet and use it in your own advertising campaign, but this can cause all manner of legal problems for you and your brand later on. If you don’t have graphics or images of your own, search free image resource sites or chat to your designer about acquiring images for you that you are allowed to use.
