Kyalami Final SA Round & 2009 Season wrap up
SUPERBIKE PS Honda - Lance Isaacs #38
#38 - Isaacs Friday practice session PS Honda is right on the button with Lance leading into the Saturday event with the overall fastest time lap time. Isaacs wanted to show he had what it took to win the SA Championship and go for the double on the day. Saturday and the weather changed, track temp we way down and the front grip just went away, the front tyre would just not hold the speed and power put out by the CBR1000RR while saving the front from letting go he ran off the circuit letting series winner Morais take over first place. In the second heat it was not to be as the rain gods were just not on his side, the heat was cancelled due to bad weather giving the automatic series win to Morais. Isaacs still ended the season on a positive note by taking the overall 2nd Place in the SA Superbike Championships.
Lance Isaacs
"Obviously I wish I could have been on the top step of the podium and win the series,” said Isaacs. “We’ve been so close so many times, but this result was definitely a win in our eyes, if we had said after the first race of the season we would be in contention for the championship at the last event, nobody would have believed this. I really want to thank my team for all the hard work they’ve put into this year. It wasn’t easy coming into the season with no testing and I think we did a great job overall."
SUPERSPORT PS Honda - Jacques Peskens / James Egan / Janine Mitchell / Brent Harran
600 young guns - PS Honda’s riders ended the season in high spirits with three out of four riders finishing inside the top 10 in the final SA Supersport race of the season held at the fast Kyalami GP circuit. Jacques Peskens challenged for the front position in a wet second heat before settling for second and an overall 4th for the day but wining the second place in the championship was the aim for this event and that he did. James Egan had a good start, but ran wide in turn three losing valuable track positions to finish in 9th in heat one and 7th in the wet heat two. Rookie Brent Harran was super impressive all weekend as he ran in the top four during Fridays practice sessions, in the main event he finished in a brilliant 5th and in only his second ride in the wet ever 6th respectfully. Janine Mitchell ended the season as the top lady rider in the SA National 600 series. For 2010 there will be an all ladies class run at the Gauteng regional’s and this will her main focus next season.
